So just this weekend me and Ian (@WarTrader on Twitter) travelled up to London from the Southwest to visit Salute, a huge wargaming convention put on by the Warlords club. A very good time was had by all, and much shiny was purchased! (Although pics of that will be coming up later in a follow up blog post).

The event was pretty large, and I have to admit I was surprised at the diversity of a lot of the games being shown and demonstrated. While I do not need any more games to play right now, I am certainly keeping an eye on The World of Twilight for a possible future endeavour.

Along the way I got to finally put names to faces of many people I know online (@MarcUpdates – Thank for the accommodation!, @KhadorRed and @JohnnyHawkwind to name a few), and once again I met James Swallow at the Black Library stand. I have to admit I was rather impressed he remembered me as I walked up, but I think that was more to my Domo shirt and mentioning that I was going to Salute on Twitter :P

I have to admit that I am now rather struggling for things to really say, so I shall leave you with the pictures I took at the event with this handy gallery widget below. Enjoy!

Salute 2011 – The Event
Pictures taken during the Salute 2011 event. Mostly interesting and cool looking gaming tables, though I have no idea of which games a lot of them were playing!

More ForgeWorld goodies. I like the Achilles Land Raider, but I still prefer the colours on my Caestus Assault Ram ;)

I fell in love with the model of a Cowgirl riding the dinosaur and just *had* to order it once I got home (they went out of stock at the event)

It has been a while since I last posted here, even longer in this category. But it is not without reason, what with life and other side projects getting in the way. This isn’t about that though. This is about an upcoming Apocalypse game, and my race to get as much painted and ready as possible.

This is not a take of four gamers. This is a tale of one gamer and his Angels.

At the beginning of October, the first weekend after the UK GamesDay, my local GCN club us having a followup event to our last Apocalyptic game against the Dark Angels. This time the stakes have been raised and the point values are higher (7-8k per table). For this I have teamed up with Nick, of Rane Projects fame, to deliver a devastating force of Blood Angels and Space Wolves. Two codicies we have often mused, that could be two halves of one whole. As it stands at the moment, I am supplying 6k of Blood Angels, and Nick 1.5-2k of his Wolves.

This will not be a walk in the park however, the battle, nor the preparation. I have the following four weeks or so to get my force fighting ready. The list of what I plan to field, along with rough progress estimates of how far along they are, is included at the end of this post and I will try to find the time to give weekly updates on my progress.

For this weeks “update”, I have spent my time sorting out my two 10 man assault squads. Mainly painting up and glueing on their jump packs along with other finishing touches as well as putting together four new marines who are actually wielding the correct special weapons. To help signify that these marines are assault marines, i have managed to trim the hands from a bunch of spare chain swords that will be hanging from their waists our something.should look rather awesome I hope!

Pics and my list will be added when I get home from work later, until then… See ya!
