Avatar I did not originally get into this Airbending malarkey when it first came around, which is surprising considering that at the time I was largely pre-disposed to watching anime and cartoons. I still do now of course, but no where near as much as I did before. What made me change my mind and give it a look was a particularly awesome looking movie trailer, and me being the impatient person I am, could not wait for the movie release to see what it was all about. So I dove head first into watching this, putting everything else (Warehouse 13, Chuck, etc) on the back burner until I was done. 30 hours of TV later… here I am.

RIP Sunday Movies

After not doing a Sunday Movies post in ages, I have decided to retire this feature. I will leave all the posts here, but it is unlikely that any more will be appearing. The reason behind it all is because on Sunday afternoons when I was either farming materials in WoW or starting up on WH40K hobby, I was up in my room and I would stick a bunch of movies on as background noise. Over time though I have quit playing WoW, and all my hobby is done in the living room being more sociable. RIP Sunday Movies, it was fun while it lasted.

Looking Back At… Alan Wake

Alan Wake BoxartAlan Wake has been in production for a long long time. Created by the same people as those who gave us the Max Payne games, up in Finland. The game follows the titular character through a creepy and harrowing adventure that takes place when a malevolent force starts to make his writings come to life.

Last week, I picked up two new games (almost kind of on a whim). The first, Lost Planet 2, the sequel (who would have guessed?!) to Lost Planet, the snowy third person shooter with big mechs and bugs from Capcom. The second, Alan Wake, a new IP from Remedy, the same people who brought us the fantastic Max Payne games. During a weekend spent at my mate’s place, gaming, we found time to throw these two games into the console and see what they were all about…

For this atrocity, I blame the release of the Halo Reach beta, and a certain someone getting me re-addicted to Sonic games…

I have a full post in the works, but I am falling asleep so it will have to wait until tomorrow. See you then!

::UPDATE::
Ok, so now for the real post! I am currently enjoying a week off work, following a family gathering at the weekend (pics will be up on the gallery soon, if you are one of the few to have full access to all my pictures), and I am loving it. Purely by coincidence (really! honest!) this time off coincides with the launch of the Halo Reach beta. Had it just been that, I would have been able to had this blog update in time. However,  after a impromptu visit to my mate Nick on Tuesday as he had the day off too (unforseen circumstances) I was also re-introduced and re-addicted to the Sonic the Hedgehog games…

*Insert witty article title here*

Batman: Arkham Asylum may be the greatest and best game I have played in recent years. That was the conclusion I came to over the weekend when I decided buy the game for a second time, and subsequently started yet another play through of the story mode. Why the hell would I do this?

Now that I have regained my sense of balance / taste and can now focus my eyes beyond the 4′ distance, I can unequivocally state that I have just recovered from one of my most fun weekends in recent history! Anyone who has decided to keep an eye on my gallery page will have already noticed the pictures arriving (and hopefully checked through them too!). My buddy Nick, over at RaneProjects.com has already made a decent write up of the event if you want to check that, but if you are too lazy, just read more ;)

Looking Back at… God of War 3

“Hey! Wait a minute!” I hear you cry, “You have not written an Initial Thoughts post on this game yet, aren’t you getting mixed up?”. Well, the answer is “No”, I nearly wrote an article several times, except every time I sat down to write it, I decided that the time would be better spent playing the game instead of talking about it. Then, before I know it, the game was over and done with and what remained of the ancient Greek mythology inspired world was in tattered ruins in the aftermath of Kratos’s rage and fury.

To find out what I thought of this game, hit up the read more button just over there somewhere… –>

The latest addition to the seemingly never ending series from Square-Enix, and the first one to be released on the Xbox. I have been eagerly looking forward to the release of this game despite having barely played any of the other games in the series (but what I did play, I enjoyed).

Looking Back at… Bayonetta

In last weekend’s game completion marathon, I also managed to finally get past the final boss that had been giving me issues. This of course triggered the moving of the game to my “completed” pile and this very article. If you fancy, you can read my Initial Thoughts post (over here), but if you would rather just into the meat of this review, just hit read more!
