Category: Event Report

So just this weekend me and Ian (@WarTrader on Twitter) travelled up to London from the Southwest to visit Salute, a huge wargaming convention put on by the Warlords club. A very good time was had by all, and much shiny was purchased! (Although pics of that will be coming up later in a follow up blog post).

The event was pretty large, and I have to admit I was surprised at the diversity of a lot of the games being shown and demonstrated. While I do not need any more games to play right now, I am certainly keeping an eye on The World of Twilight for a possible future endeavour.

Along the way I got to finally put names to faces of many people I know online (@MarcUpdates – Thank for the accommodation!, @KhadorRed and @JohnnyHawkwind to name a few), and once again I met James Swallow at the Black Library stand. I have to admit I was rather impressed he remembered me as I walked up, but I think that was more to my Domo shirt and mentioning that I was going to Salute on Twitter :P

I have to admit that I am now rather struggling for things to really say, so I shall leave you with the pictures I took at the event with this handy gallery widget below. Enjoy!

Salute 2011 – The Event
Pictures taken during the Salute 2011 event. Mostly interesting and cool looking gaming tables, though I have no idea of which games a lot of them were playing!

More ForgeWorld goodies. I like the Achilles Land Raider, but I still prefer the colours on my Caestus Assault Ram ;)

I fell in love with the model of a Cowgirl riding the dinosaur and just *had* to order it once I got home (they went out of stock at the event)

E3 2010: Part 1

Well… I have seen as much of Day One as I can, including most of the big keynotes of the past couple of days and on the whole I am liking what I see. This post will cover the main big announcements from the start of the week, and then I will do a follow up at the end of the week covering the interesting titbits etc once people have had a chance to get some more hands on experience with things.

Now that I have regained my sense of balance / taste and can now focus my eyes beyond the 4′ distance, I can unequivocally state that I have just recovered from one of my most fun weekends in recent history! Anyone who has decided to keep an eye on my gallery page will have already noticed the pictures arriving (and hopefully checked through them too!). My buddy Nick, over at RaneProjects.com has already made a decent write up of the event if you want to check that, but if you are too lazy, just read more ;)

Event Report: Ronon’s First Birthday

I figure I might as well use my rather under-used Event Report category for this as it was a rather grand event. My mate from RaneProjects’ son (and my Godson) had his first birthday back on the 19th, and the weekend was dedicated to celebrating it. Although really at that age the partying is more for the benefit of the adults than the child in question. Read more to hear about how the weekend fared :)

Event Report: Video Games Live 2009

Video Games Live LogoIt has been some time coming, almost a week to the day, but its finally here. My Event Report from Video Games Live at Cardiff. Video Games Live is an event that plays a selection of popular game music, using a full orchestra, accompanied with a stage show and large screens with videos of the games, in time to the music. After the jump I have embedded one of their trailers from Youtube. I strongly suggest you watch it before going any further.
