This is my website. It has no real purpose except to exist and thats about it. I can and will use it to show off things I am doing or find interesting online, as well as hopefuly find me some freelance work, but primarily all it has to do is exist. I would say it’s doing a good job so far, although some sections of the website have still not quite got the hang of this “existing” gimmick, so I will have to encourage them and I will let everyone know as and when they decide to give it a go
If you want to know more about me, then read on!
I am a 20-something year old IT Engineer, currently working for the NHS down in Exeter. I feel that I am quite lucky with my job, not only because of the great people I get to work with on a daily basis, but because I get to play around with shiney new fresh out of the box computers!
When not working, I can usually be found tinkering with things on my laptop, playing video games, reading, listening to music or watching a film. Quite often a combination of several of the above at once!
I own, or have owned, pretty much all of the popular consoles and try my hand at a variety of games on all of them, as well as on the PC. I wouldn’t actually say that I had a favourite genre of game, but usually a gripping story line or very well thought out universe will usually suck me in! Some examples of my favourites are: Mass Effect, Gears of War, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Prince of Persia, Assassins Creed, Rockband and any of the Lego games. I am also a confessed World of Warcraft addict, whose guild is making good progression through Ulduar at this time of writing.
In terms of music, I have a very wide taste and will happily listen to almost anything, however rock would have to be my favourite genre. My favourite group being Poets of the Fall – a Finnish band who I really wish would make more of an effort to break into the UK market
I also habitually listen to orchestral scores, often from films or video game soundtracks.
With reading, I wouldn’t say I had a favourite author, although Terry Prattchet and Tom Clancy come close despite being very different from each other. The really odd thing about that statement is that my favourite genre of book would most certainly have to be Sci Fi, which neither of those two writers have done much of, if any at all. I have started to read more and more Karen Traviss novels, most notabley the Gears of War or Clone Commando books but I am definatley interested in finding some of her original works. Aside from that, its all Star Wars Extended Universe novels.
For video media (I’ll group movies and TV series together here), Sci Fi is again the order of the day! Farscape, Firefly, Serenity, Dollhouse are pretty much top of the list. That’s not to say that it’s all exclusively science fiction – Dexter, 300, Sin City and True Blood all see to that.
Thanks to my good friend Nick from Rane Projects, I have also recently been introduced into the world of tabletop gaming in the form of Warhammer 40,000. This may have been a mistake, as I have a fairly addictive personality, but I am now seriously looking at building my own Blood Angels army.
